Files and viewers
Inspect hardware files without leaving the project.
Browse the repository
Files follows the repository’s nested directory structure. Opening a file expands the working area, with navigation on the left and the selected file on the right. The commit indicator and History button show the context of what you are viewing.
Models and schematics
Supported 3D formats have an interactive model view. KiCad schematic previews and supported standardized schematic scenes make electronics documents easier to inspect. Unsupported or partially parsed files remain available through the file browser.
Gerbers and board views
The Gerber viewer lets you show and hide layers, including supported layers inside ZIP archives. Board previews depend on the supplied fabrication layers; they do not replace a manufacturer’s design-rule checks or an assembly model.
Download and use local tools
Download original files from Files when you need to edit, inspect unsupported formats, or prepare manufacturing input. For compatible printable models, use the available slicer handoff or download the model and open it in your slicer.
Keep the version in view
Switching versions should preserve the selected Thing or file context when it is available. Confirm the revision before comparing or downloading; a file can differ between a branch and a published release.
