Overwriting the change that moved the board to the ATMEGA32u IC, I decided not to do this, since I don't want to rewrite the firmware code again. Landing pad design for the voltage ICs has been re-done, should resolve the heat issues.

Decided to redo lots of the board because I was running very low on space. Switched the microcontroller to the ATMega32u4, it has USB built-in but it's a 5v chip, which means I can be rid of the whole 3.3v rail, and all the level shifting involved. This means less components, less risk since I'm assembling them by hand. Decided to add a small board specifically to solder onto the OBD-II connector I'm using, and connect to the main board with a 90-degree connector. This way I can sort the OBD-II pins so I can split the protocols up and isolate each protocol's components from one another on the board layout. This will make probing using a multimeter much simpler. Electrical connections on the board are not done. It will probably just take a push of the Auto-router button but I am not convinced the design is "done".

Ditched the MOSFETs. Kept having problems with the MOSFETs, plus they're a pain to solder and expensive, so I designed a much better way of multiplexing between SCI A config and ISO9141, which is to simply use transistors to activate the needed pull-up resistors and then allow the incoming voltage to flow. Briefly looked at the J1850 and immediately noted that the RX resistor divider was a bad idea, it causes extra pull on the J1850 line. Replaced it with a transistor for now, will probably need a comparator later. Biggest problem I currently face is that I don't have a good way to prototype any of this, since I don't have any of the pre-built boards for the XMEGA. Might look into getting one...

Made component dimension mods based on prototype PCB. Ordered rev A board, discovered that I hadn't paid close enough attention to part dimensions. In particular the ISO1050 and MAX17502 chips were completely wrong, and the 1.5SMC43AT3G ESD diode was SMC package, not SMB. The ISO1050 fit with modification, and the diode was close enough to solder, but the MAX17502 pins touched the ground pad so the board can't be assembled. Made modifications based on my findings, bumped the revision to B, and am looking at ordering new boards.

Added MOSFETs for muxing. Adding transistors and diodes to protect SCI from the ISO9141 voltage was getting tedious, so I've implemented proper multiplexing using 2 MOSFET IC's I've seen used before. They're both N-channel. Also noticed that the datasheet for the SN65HVDA195-Q1 specifies a series resistor and capacitor to ground for ISO-K-TX for noise filtering and overcurrent protection.

Replaced J1850 8V supply IC with a beefier one. J1850VPW spec says max current is somewhere around 25 mA @ 8V, so I replaced the IC I was using with a beefier one. Less efficient, probably, but should be effective.

Re-wrote ISO9141 pull-up, J1850VPW circuit. ISO9141 pull-up resistor activation works on ISO-K-EN line now, removing the need for ISO-K-PULLUP-EN-INV line. However, it requires a double-transistor to work. J1850VPW circuit now works on +8V like it should, and the RX uses a simple voltage divider to judge the current state of J1850+. Credit goes to Konstantin for his suggestions on the circuits.

Re-did SCI, added activatable ISO9141 pull-up resistor. Based on what I've learned of SCI and how the ECU wiring is done, I've removed all the level shifting from 5V->3.3V, because the bus can be driven in either voltage. I've hooked up the ISO9141 enable pins to transistors that activate pull-up resistors to +12v.
